The Maiden

The Maiden
Quietly stood
Within the deep,
Deep wood.

Amongst the trees,
She watched,
With great delight,
Patterns of shadow
And of light.

Alone in her forest
Home, she thrived,
Despite the many
Suitors that arrived.

Each would call,
With gifts aplenty.
Just a glance, she took,
Rejecting all
With one brief look.

Then, one day,
A suitor came along
Who happily sang
A different song.

He did not bring
An expensive gift
His was quite,
Quite, modest, yet,
Was just right.

This Suitor’s gift
To the fair Maid
`Twas a single daisy
Which in moss, he’d laid.

She gladly did
Receive this gift,
And in tissue, she did place
The flower, and its mossy bed,
With a smile on her face.

Until I type again,

Kami
